New Haven family falls victim to early morning 'SWATTING' call

NEW HAVEN — The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a fake 911 call that gathered a large police response to a home in New Haven.

Around 1:20am this morning, a 911 call was received in which a male stated that he had shot his mother inside of a home at the 32000 block of Salt River Circle South.

Deputies arrived and established a perimeter, while attempting communication via phone with the home owner. The homeowner answered - and it was learned that him, his wife, and two children were the center of a fake 911 call, also referred to as a 'SWATING' incident.

Deputies quickly began clearing the scene while the investigation into the call-maker continued, and the investigation is still ongoing.
