House destroyed after being engulfed in flames on Fourth of July in Chesterfield Township

CHESTERFIELD TWP — A family is left displaced after their home was destroyed after becoming engulfed in flames on the Fourth of July in Chesterfield Twp.


Chesterfield Firefighters responded to the 26000 block of Fairwood Drive near 21 Mile and Gratiot Avenue around 10:45 p.m. on Thursday.


They arrived to a fully-involved residential structure fire and struck first-alarm, with mutual aid coming from numerous nearby departments.


The fire was under control around 11:10 p.m. and although all occupants and pets were able to evacuate, it’s unclear if there is any injuries as a result.


One neighboring home suffered heat damage. 


SEMCO and Edison responded to shut off power and gas to the home and a boarding company has also responded.


Chesterfield Township Firefighters received mutual aid from multiple agencies including Selfridge ANGB, Macomb Township, Lenox Township, and New Baltimore.


Part-time employees were called in to fill the Fire Stations in Chesterfield along with personnel from the New Haven Fire Department.


Chesterfield Township Police and the Chesterfield Township Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire, but early findings lead to fireworks being the likely cause.
