SHELBY TWP — Several businesses were forced to briefly close in the 26 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue area on Tuesday evening, due to a potential threat.

Police were notified of the potential threat, targeting Walgreens, sometime Tuesday late afternoon/early evening and responded to secure the area.

Michigan State Police Bomb Squad responded and searched the business. No explosive material was located.

Businesses in the area, including Kroger, TJ Maxx, McDonalds, and more were shut down and evacuated while the bomb squad conducted their search.

Around 7:15pm, businesses have started to slowly reopen.

The investigation remains ongoing and police haven’t released anymore information.
