New Baltimore man arrested for being in possession of a stolen firearm without a CPL

CHESTERFIELD TWP — A New Baltimore man was stopped on Saturday by a Michigan State Police trooper on Gratiot Avenue for driving at high rates of speed.

After making contact with the male, he had told the trooper that he had a handgun inside of the vehicle.

The 44-year-old man was detained after troopers discovered that he didn’t have a CPL.

A search of the vehicle resulted in a stolen pistol being recovered between the center council and the drivers seat.

The man was taken to the Macomb County Jail and charges are pending prosecutor review.
