De La Salle wins another regional championship, faces Brother Rice in state quarterfinals

 


The De La Salle Pilots took on the Saint Clair Shores Unified Lakers on Wednesday in a D2 regional finals matchup.


The Pilots took the game by a score of 7-2.


Brady Desmadryl gave the Pilots a 1-0 lead with a first period goal assisted by Keegan James.  


The second period started out even, until Brennen Lenk evened the game with a goal for the Lakers at 7:05 remaining in period two.


With under 4:00 remaining in the second period, the Pilots netted three, and the Lakers one.


First, Colton Fuqua for the Pilots to give them to go ahead lead, followed by another goal from Desmadryl just a minute later. 


Brennen Lenk got the Lakers back within one with around 1:30 to go in the second, before Keegan James added another tally for the Pilots.


Going into the third period, the Pilots led the Lakers 4-2.


The third period was all Pilots, starting with goal number three for Brady Desmadryl in the 7:00 mark.


Bryson Row then decided that the Pilots were not done, and quickly gave the Pilots a 6-2 lead before Northwood commit Jerome Sciturro scored the final goal of the game. Final score 7-2


Pilots goaltender Benjamin Vanderdonck stopped 18 of 20 shots on goal to help the Pilots.


William Young stopped 33 of the Pilots 40 shots in the game.


The Pilots will take on highly ranked Brother Rice on Saturday in the state quarterfinals.
