The Anchor Bay boys soccer team defeated Eisenhower on Monday in a matchup that would decide the 2022 MAC Red champions.
Both Eisenhower and Anchor Bay went into the game with 20 points on the season, and this was the last season game for both teams. The win gave the Tars its third consecutive year of crowning champions in the division.
Anchor Bays Garrett Pouget netted the lone goal of the game about 11 minutes into the second half. Connor Turala stood superior in net for the Tars.
Eisenhower put on most of the pressure and possession in the first half before Anchor Bay came out strong to start the second.
Down one goal, towards the end of the game, Eisenhower put on a tremendous amount of pressure as well, but the Tars didn’t give up.
Anchor Bay ended the season with a total record of 11-3-3. Eisenhower following closely with a record of 7-2-4.
Henry Ford II is the MAC White champions going through with no losses during season play.
Warren Cousino took the top of the MAC Blue division. Lakeview won the gold division, and Port Huron won the silver division.
Districts starts Wednesday night which is the win or go home part of the season.
