Detroit man charged after crashing boat on Lake St. Clair in Tecumseh, Canada

 TECUMSEH — 51-year-old Lawrence Hayes Bascomb of Detroit is facing charges after his boat struck a break-wall on Lake St. Clair in Tecumseh, Canada.


Around 11:45pm on Saturday night, Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services, Tecumseh Fire and Rescue, and the Canadian Coast Guard responded to the 14000 block of Riverside Drive for a boat crash.


The boat was occupied by eight people, two of which were transported to a Windsor area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and another was treated on scene. 


Police have charged Bascomb with Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration, and Operation Causing Bodily Harm. 


Bascomb was released and will visit the Ontario court of Justice in Windsor at a later date.


All occupants of the vessel were turned over to the Canada Border Services Agency following the crash.
