Macomb County News & Scanner is a service to the residents of Macomb County, Michigan - and surrounding communities - where you can find information on crime, traffic, construction, weather, and more - to help keep you notified on what is going on in your community.
The service started in Fall of 2021 on Facebook to help the community find information on situations that are going on for their safety. We often get asked the reason for a first responder presence at a certain location, and we are able to provide the answer by utilizing our scanner, where we can monitor police, fire, and EMS radios. We also spread information to the public that is shared directly from local Law Enforcement Agencies, the Prosecutors Office, and more.
We tend to go more in depth that the average news station in the area because of our ability to receive updates from first responders at the scene of an incident - as they happen.
All information posted to our Facebook Group or Facebook Page is based on the initial reports via scanner, therefor, all information we post should be viewed as unverified to an extent as we are sometimes (1) unable to gain all pieces of information related to an incident, and (2) the fact that information is always subject to change. Information provided over the scanner should be expected to change based on the progress of an investigation by an agency to that incident. Not all details and information on an incident are given over the radio.
You may find some information posted from us blatant and with a lack of information, and that may be due to a number of reasons. This includes but isn’t limited to; Lack of information on the scanner, first responder safety, or the safety of the individuals involved in a particular incident.
As always, we work with community members to help them keep their privacy, therefor, if you are involved in a situation that we post and would like some or all of the information removed from our site - you can contact us by sending us a direct message on Facebook. You can message the Macomb County News and Scanner page to receive the quickest response from us.
Our service provides residents in the communities to get information on incidents that they likely wouldn’t hear about if they hadn’t seen it on our social media pages.
