Vehicle crash in Richmond leaves one seriously injured; roadway closed

RICHMOND — An investigation is underway after a two-vehicle crash in Richmond Saturday night, leaving a teenager with serious injuries.

It happened around 10:20 p.m. on April 5, when Richmond Police responded to Gratiot Avenue and Division, along with the Richmond Fire Department and Richmond Lenox EMS.

A Jeep Cherokee and Ford truck were involved. The driver of the Cherokee, a teenage female, had to be extricated from the car where she was rushed to McLaren Macomb Hospital in very critical condition.

The occupants of the truck, including a child and adult male, were uninjured.

What led up to the crash hasn’t been confirmed yet, but unverified information alleges that the Cherokee didn’t stop for the red light.

Macomb County Department of Roads was requested to bring barricades to the scene to close the roadways.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team is on scene to conduct the investigation.

As of about 1:00 a.m. Sunday, the roads remain closed.
