Police pursuit ends in a crash involving Warren Police Officer(s)

WARREN — An investigation is ongoing after a vehicle fled from Warren Police Officers, leading to two different crash scenes and road closures on Thursday around noon.

It started just before 12:00 p.m. when a Silver vehicle took off from an officer on I-696 at Dequindre.

The pursuit continued onto Mound Road where a pursuing patrol car was involved in a crash at Mound Road and Hayden Street, with another crash scene, involving the suspects car, at 8 Mile and Mound Roads.

All suspects were detained at the scene, and numerous people suffered injuries. The officer driving the crashed squad car was alert and conscious, but needed to be removed from the car by Jaws of Life.

It’s unclear if there was an officer in the passenger seat of the squad car. The injured officer was escorted to the hospital by numerous police agencies.

The status and total number of injuries isn’t known, and police say the roadways will remain closed for some time.
