Murder charge expected in missing person case of Ashley Elkins

ROSEVILLE — New developments in the missing person case of Ashley Elkins, a mother of two who disappeared in early January, have come up, according to family.

The Roseville Police Department has confirmed that DNA testing done after a dumpster was seized from Elkins' ex-boyfriends apartment complex has come back as her DNA.

This prompted a one-week search of a landfill in Lenox Township, which resulted in several items being taken for further DNA testing.

De'Andre Booker, 32, is in custody on a charge of lying to a police officer during this investigation and a new arraignment date has been set, where a first degree murder charge is expected against him.

Elkins' body has not been located yet given the search of the landfill and continues search efforts by multiple police agencies.

Booker will be arraigned on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the 39th District Court, in Roseville. A press conference will occur immediately after the arraignment at the Roseville Police Department, where the Macomb County Prosecutors Office will also be present.
