Investigation underway after gunfire erupts in early morning shootout in Warren

 


WARREN — The Warren Police Department is investigating after gunfire erupted early Monday morning on the cities southeast side.


Around 12:30 a.m. on January 6, a Warren Police Officer on patrol was at the Department of Public Works building when he heard dozens of gunshots in the area, possibly coming from the intersection of Groesbeck Highway and Schoenherr Road.


When officers arrived to the area to investigate, they located people gathered rushing into a building on the southeast side of the intersection.


As officers began checking the scene, they located tons of shell casings of multiple calibers. Additionally, they located multiple buildings and vehicles with bullet holes at the 23800 block of Schoenherr Rd.


It’s not believed that anyone was injured and no suspects are in custody.


The investigation continues and anybody with information should call the Warren Police Department.
