ROSEVILLE — The disappearance of 30-year-old Ashely Elkins has left the community in southern Macomb County shocked as new developments came in on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
This information is what we know as of 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning:
EX-BOYFRIEND, HIS INVOLVEMENT?
While much information about the ex-boyfriend to Elkins is not known, police have confirmed that they have been in contact with him several times since she disappeared.
WARRANT EXECUTION, WHAT WAS FOUND?
A warrant was executed at Elkins ex-boyfriend’s apartment complex on Tuesday located on Pinehurst Street near 11 Mile Road in Roseville.
The Michigan State Police Forensic Laboratory was on scene as the area was closed off with crime scene tape.
Authorities focused on the second-story unit and also focused on door frames at the complex, likely hoping to retrieve forensic data and DNA to help with the investigation.
Police also seized a dumpster from the complex parking lot. The dumpster was towed away to the police department with crime scene tape around it.
Police also recovered Ashely’s vehicle from the 13 Mile and Little Mack area. The car has also been seized for evidence in the case.
Ashely’s ex-boyfriend was not at his apartment unit when the warrant was executed.
ABOUT THIS CASE
Ashely Elkins, 30, and a mother of two, went missing on January 2, 2025, after leaving her Warren home to run errands. Shortly after, her family stopped receiving contact from her and her phone was last pinged to the Roseville apartment complex where her ex-boyfriend resides.
On December 31, 2024, family members say that Elkins ex-boyfriend made an appointment under a fake name to have his hair cut by Ashely at her salon. Ashely however noticed that her ex-boyfriend showed up around the appointment time and she refused to allow him entry into the salon.
Shortly after she left for errands on Jan. 2, family members say that they received text messages from her that were sent in a manner that was unlike her. After that, full contact was lost.
