String of early morning burglaries strikes Macomb County businesses

SHELBY TWP — Multiple police agencies are on alert after multiple suspects broke into several businesses in Macomb County early on Friday morning.

It started in Shelby Township where police were called to 25 Mile Road and Mound for a commercial break-in alarm at Marathon Gas Station. Police confirmed that it was burglarized with money being taken from the register.

While investigating, Shelby Township officers were sent to Marcus Grill and the vape shop, on Van Dyke Avenue at and north of 25 Mile Road for the same alarms, which also turned out to be confirmed break-ins with cash and registers stolen.

It was around that time Sterling Heights Police were sent to Shell Gas Station on Van Dyke Avenue at 17 Mile Road for an alarm. Officers located a confirmed break in.

While arriving to the gas station, Sterling Heights officers located a black, newer model, Dodge Durango fleeing the scene. The Durango didn’t stop for officers and a pursuit occurred, but was called off on Utica Road south of 15 Mile.

The same vehicle is allegedly the one that was at the scene of the burglaries in Shelby Township, with the suspects described as black males wearing masks, wearing all black clothing, and using a crowbar to enter the businesses.

While the investigations are ongoing, the information has been passed along to other area police departments.
