Threat to L'Anse Creuse High School deemed not credible

HARRISON TWP — The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a threat connected to L'Anse Creuse High School, and have determined that the threat is not credible.

In a letter to parents, Alysia Samborsky, the high schools principal, stated “Later this evening (yesterday), the Macomb County Sheriffs Department notified L'Anse Creuse High School of a possible threat to the school.”

“This unsubstantiated threat never put students or staff at risk,” she continued.

Samborsky tells parents that the Sheriff’s Office has made contact with the students families involved and that disciplinary measures are being taken.

This comes after a large increase in threats towards schools throughout the country, including L'Anse Creuse Middle School East being closed yesterday due to a threat.

Last week, Armada Area Schools was closed for a day after a threat circulating nationwide was being investigated.

Samborsky reminds parents to “please take a moment to talk with your students about the importance of reporting concerns responsibly, choosing their language carefully, and the lasting consequences of making threats.”
