WARREN — An elderly man was found deceased in the Red Run River Wednesday night after police were called to conduct a welfare check on his home.
Officers went to the 11000 block of River Drive around 7:40 p.m. last night after a neighbor called and requested a welfare check on the man’s home because some of his doors were left open for some time.
Officers obtained information that he went missing around 10:30 on Tuesday.
A large search including drones and other resources occurred where they located a lawnmower and shoes in the river, which quickly led to the discovery of the man’s body around 9:15 p.m.
It’s believed that he was mowing his lawn when he accidentally went into the river.
The Warren Police Department is investigating the drowning.
