Young man one of two praised for jumping into Lake St. Clair to help rescue woman from submerging vehicle

 


ST. CLAIR SHORES — A young man, John, is one of two men being praised for their heroic actions after a vehicle drove into Lake St. Clair Tuesday afternoon.


St. Clair Shores Police say that it happened around 12:22 p.m. when they were dispatched to the Lakefront Park near 9 Mile Road and Jefferson Avenue for a report of a car that drove into the lake.


That’s when John and another bystander jumped in and were able to help pull the vehicles sole female occupant from the vehicle prior to the arrival of first responders.


The woman was taken to the hospital to be evaluated, where she is expected to survive.


The vehicle was removed from the water by crews at the scene.


St. Clair Shores Traffic Bureau Officers continue to investigate the crash.
