Setting the scene: 21 people shot early Sunday morning in Detroits east side

 


DETROIT — Two of twenty-one people shot Sunday morning are dead and no suspect is in custody, according to Michigan State Police.


Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Rossini around 2:30 a.m., followed by a string a 9-1-1 calls for up to the next half-hour. Some of the callers reporting shots fired, some reporting that they had been shot and are in need of medical aid.


Police converged on the scene quickly, with gunfire still sounding, and one officer gained information on a possible suspect vehicle which led to a pursuit. The subject was apprehended by an officer on foot, however, Michigan State Police says that this was not a suspect in the shooting.


Officers received help from Michigan State Police and victims were rushed to multiple area hospitals. St. John Hospital on Moross activated a level 1 Mass Casualty Response and took numerous victims.

Deceased are a 21-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.

  • Victim 9: 17-year-old female, temporary serious condition
  • Victim 10: 18-year-old female, temporary serious condition
  • Victim 11: 21-year-old female, temporary serious condition
  • Victim 12: 20-year-old female, temporary serious condition
  • Victim 13: 18-year-old female, temporary serious condition
  • Victim 14: 17-year-old female, temporary serious condition
  • Victim 15: 21-year-old female, temporary serious condition
