I-94 freeway closed at Little Mack while police investigate a serious single-vehicle accident

ROSEVILLE — The Michigan State Police Department is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on the I-94 freeway Saturday night.

The calls came in around 11:00pm, where witnesses reported a vehicle that had rolled over after possibly striking the median on the eastbound side near 14 Mile Road, and the driver being ejected from the vehicle.

Bystanders stopped at the scene to begin administering aid prior to the arrival of first responders, when they located a baby in the back seat of the vehicle. It’s believed that the baby was in a car seat at the time.

A male, approximately 23 years of age, was rushed to McLaren Macomb Hospital with very serious injuries. He is not believed to have been wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

A baby, aged around 1-year-old, was taken to McLaren Macomb and expected to be ok, with paramedics stating that there is no known lacerations or injuries to the baby, and that the baby is crying and responsive.

The scene gathered a large response given the uncertainty of which city the crash occurred in. Michigan State Police is leading the investigation. Roseville Police, St. Clair Shores Police and Fire Departments, Clinton Township Police and Fire Departments, and Medstar all responded to the scene.

The freeway will remain closed through the night.
