Drive-by shooting in occupied Eastpointe house leads to St. Clair County standoff; Suspect in custody

EASTPOINTE — Multiple law enforcement agencies worked together Tuesday morning to apprehend armed suspects involved in a drive-by shooting in Eastpointe.

It started with shots being fired into a home, occupied by six children and at least one adult, near Forest and Phlox, around 1:00am. The suspect was involved in a dispute with his ex-girlfriends new boyfriend, according to police.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and police obtained information that he was heading to a Casco Township location in St. Clair County.

Law Enforcement arrived at the location in Casco Twp and saw two men and a woman outside - one of the men armed with a rifle. The two men retreated and barricaded themselves into the home while the woman remained outside and spoke with officers.

Negotiations and a tense standoff ended after the suspects surrendered following a search warrant being obtained on the home.

The scene was assisted by Richmond Police, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, St. Clair County K9, St. Clair County SWAT, and the Port Huron Police Special Response Team.
