Multiple injuries reported following propane tank explosion in Rochester

 


ROCHESTER — An investigation is underway after a propane tank exploded and injured numerous people at 423 Main Bar and Grill Rooftop, on Main Street south of University Drive.


It was around 8:45pm when the Rochester Fire Department received the call and responded to the area where three people were taken from the scene and to the hospital in serious condition. Numerous others suffered minor injuries.


Witnesses describe a heat lamp outside of the restaurant falling over and catching fire prior to the explosion.


Police say the cause is believed to be accidental, but the investigation continues and Main Street is closed south of University Drive.
