Woman shot by stray bullet after gunfire erupts at busy Eastpointe intersection

 


EASTPOINTE — One person is injured after gunfire erupted between several vehicles at a busy Eastpointe intersection on Sunday night.


Police responded to 9 Mile and Kelly Roads around 8:45pm after receiving several calls of shots fired.


Police arrived and located several shell casings on both Kelly and 9 Mile Roads, leaving the intersection closed.


Investigation has revealed that two sedans, one light-colored and the other dark-colored, were stopped at the intersection and a male was hanging out of the window of one of the sedans.


A Dodge Durango then pulled up and an occupant began shooting at the two sedans. All three vehicle then fled towards I-94.


The injured and innocent woman sustained a gunshot wound to the hand after a stray bullet went through her windshield.


The shooting remains under investigation and witnesses are urged to call Eastpointe Police.
