Shooting investigation underway after numerous shots fired at sweet sixteen birthday party in Eastpointe

 

EASTPOINTE — Eastpointe Police are investigating a shooting that has closed Kelly Road Saturday night.

Police were called to Kelly Road near Toepfer around 9:45pm for shots fired. Officers arrived and found a large number of shell casings along Kelly Road, in both the NB and SB lanes.

Police also learned that a victim was privately conveyed to Ascension St Johns Moross Hospital.

The suspect vehicle fled SB from the scene, and the description of the suspect vehicle is not known.

Kelly Road is closed in both directions while police investigate.

Bullet holes were located in a bedroom window at a nearby home, as well as at least one vehicle near the scene.

There was a sweet sixteen birthday party ongoing at the time of the shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation and the public is asked to avoid the area.
