New Haven Community Schools will have a soft lockdown on Friday after two separate reports made through Ok2SAY

NEW HAVEN — Thursday morning, New Haven Community Schools went into a soft lockdown at all buildings after a threat was submitted to the states OK2SAY system.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office was able to track the IP Number to an address outside of the county, according to a letter from the school.

In addition, the individual has no association with, nor ever attended a school in the New Haven district.

After high school students were released for the day Thursday, another tip was submitted to OK2SAY in which the tipster noted that they heard a student talking about bombs in the hallway at New Haven High School.

A Michigan State Police bomb-detection K9 responded to the scene and searched the campus. No explosives were located in the search.

Cheryl Puzdrakiewicz, the Superintendent of the school district, says that all schools will remain in a soft lockdown status on Friday for safety.

“This means that students will continue to stay inside the building during the day, with limited hallway access and no one from outside will be allowed in unless they had a prior scheduled appointment,” Puzdrakiewicz said in a letter to parents.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the reports.
