Clinton Township man on parole facing charges after meeting with who he thought was an underage girl for sexual activity

 


PONTIAC — 26-year-old Kyle Thomas Spates, of Clinton Township, is facing several charges after chatting, meeting up with who he thought was an underage girl. 


Who showed up? A local resident who goes by “PontiacPredatorCatchers” on social media. 


Spates had chatted with the decoy account about engaging in sexual activity with the decoy, and also stated that he would bring drugs for them.


Spates was taken into custody by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office in Pontiac where the meetup was planned to go down. 


Spates had tossed methamphetamine onto a nearby yard to avoid being caught with it, but deputies located it and seized it.


He is also on federal parole, and was in possession of a stun gun.


Spates is facing the following charges:


(1) Child Abusive Commercial Activity

(2) Using a computer to commit a crime

(3) Using a computer to commit a crime

(4) Children - accosting for immoral purposes

(5) Delivery/Manufacture controlled substance - methamphetamine 

(6) Carrying a concealed weapon


His bond was set at $75,000 cash/surety, and his probable cause hearing is scheduled for April 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the 50th District Court of Pontiac.
