Warren, Detroit Police Departments take five into custody after standoff on Detroits east side

 


DETROIT — Around 2:00am on Wednesday, Warren Police officers were monitoring a group of individuals who were wanted for at least 25 break-ins throughout Macomb, Wayne, and Oakland counties.


Officers located the group breaking into a Family Dollar on the 14000 block of Mack Avenue in Detroit, before targeting a smoke shop in the area as well.


Warren Police notified Detroit Police and a helicopter began to track the suspects. The suspects were tracked to an apartment complex at Lenox Street and Essex Avenue on Detroits east side, where they barricaded themselves.


Around 10:00am, five individuals surrendered to officers and were taken into custody.


Police say that there was five children under 10 years old inside of the apartment at the time of the standoff, but none of them were injured.


The suspects were wanted for break-ins in Harper Woods, Warren, Clawson, Detroit, Madison Heights, and more.
