FAA clears closure of airspace above parts of Lake Michigan

 


Sunday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration had restricted airspace above part of Lake Michigan, citing “National Defense Purposes.”


The restriction was lifted a short time prior to 1:30 p.m. EST.


Social Media reports of U.S. Air Force jets scrambling to the area haven’t been confirmed, however, multiple surveillance planes with the Air Force was in the area throughout the restriction.


According to U.S. Rep. Matt Rosendale, NORCOM confirmed that there was an object, which wasn’t identified, in the air and that it was not an anomaly.


Further details weren’t immediately available about the situation.
