Richmond Community Schools closed for the remainder of the week after death threat targeting employee found

RICHMOND — The Richmond Police Department is investigating a death threat targeting an employee of Richmond Community Schools.

Around 7:30am, administration located the written death threat that not only targeted an employee, but the employees spouse and children as well. Authorities say personal information was also included in the threat.

The school was immediately locked down and Richmond Police responded. The situation hasn’t been resolved and all security and digital footage, along with the threat, has been turned over to law enforcement.

School was already canceled for the day so new teachers could prepare to teach students following a large vacancy of teachers prior to break.

The school district will remain closed for the remainder of the week since the threat investigation remains ongoing.

Athletic events were canceled for Tuesday, and will be a day-to-day decision for the rest of the week, according to the school district.

If anyone has any information on the threat or has information that may lead to the arrest of the individual or individuals who issued the threat, please contact Officer Roberts at the Richmond Police Department at (586) 727-4000.
