Out of state amber alert triggers BOLO alert in Michigan; Timeline

 


This afternoon, a Be On the Look-Out Alert (BOLO) was issued for five adjoining states to Ohio, including Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Indiana, in response to an amber alert.


On December 19 at 9:45pm, Police in Columbus, Ohio responded to a pizza store after receiving a 911 call from a mother who said that her vehicle with her two babies in it was stolen.


When the mother walked into the business to pickup a DoorDash order, the suspect, Nalah Jackson, walked out of the business and stole the car. 


An amber alert was issued in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 20.


On Tuesday morning, one of the babies, Kyair, was located by a bystander in the parking lot of Dayton International Airport.


The suspect remains on the run with the other 5-month-old baby, Kason.


Below is a timeline of events on this incident:


MONDAY, DECEMBER 19


9:45pm -  Columbus Police receives 911 call from Donatos Pizza in the cities Short North Neighborhood, of a stolen vehicle with twins inside.

9:52pm -  Columbus Police arrives at Donatos Pizza and learn that a homeless woman, identified as Nalah Jackson, had exited the business when the mother entered.

10:17pm - Grid-Pattern search of more than fifty (50) police officers starts. A Columbus Police helicopter was also deployed.

10:30pm - Ohio Highway Patrol, Ohio State University Police, Grandview Police, and Arlington Police join the search.

11:00pm -  More than twelve (12) addresses previously linked to Jackson are visited by police in the area.

11:45pm -  Columbus Police Sergeant Kyle Fishburn sends amber alert request to Ohio Highway Patrol.


TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20


12:05am -  Columbus Police Deputy Chief Smith Weir sends second amber alert request to Ohio Highway Patrol. 

12:30am -  Columbus Police sends additional detectives and supervisors into service to assist.

1:37am -  Ohio Highway Patrol approves and sends statewide amber alert.

4:15am -  Columbus Police receive 911 call of abandoned child in the parking lot of Dayton International Airport. Child identified as 5-month-old Kyair Thomass.

5:37am -  Columbus Police notify the media that Kyair has been safely located. However, Nalah Jackson remains on the run with Kason.

6:00am -  Sergeant Kyle Fishburn as well as one other detective from the Columbus Police Department begin heading out to Dayton.

11:15am -  Huber Heights Police notify Columbus Police that they have received surveillance footage possibly showing the suspect enter a gas station.

4:59pm -  Columbus Police release surveillance photographs from the gas station of Nalah Jackson, as well as the stolen 2010 Honda Accord. Jackson entered the gas station and asked the clerk for $5. The clerk gave Jackson $5 prior to knowing about the amber alert.

9:00pm -  Indiana State Police issues statewide BOLO Alert, and notifies Columbus Police that they will immediately let CPD know if there are any possible sightings of the suspect, the baby, or the stolen vehicle.

9:15pm -  Kentucky State Police issues statewide BOLO Alert, and notifies Columbus Police that they will immediately let CPD know if there are any possible sightings of the suspect, the baby, or the stolen vehicle.

9:20pm -  Michigan State Police issues statewide BOLO Alert, and notifies Columbus Police that they will immediately let CPD know if there are any possible sightings of the suspect, the baby, or the stolen vehicle.

9:23pm -  West Virginia State Police issues statewide BOLO Alert, and notifies Columbus Police that they will immediately let CPD know if there are any possible sightings of the suspect, the baby, or the stolen vehicle.

9:25pm -  Pennsylvania State Police issues statewide BOLO Alert, and notifies Columbus Police that they will immediately let CPD know if there are any possible sightings of the suspect, the baby, or the stolen vehicle.
