'Chaos on Colman' halloween event begins in Clinton Twp; raising donation to support domestic abuse survivors

CLINTON TOWNSHIP — In the entire month of October, residents can head to Colman Street, east of Beaconsfield, to get a look at the fabulous halloween decorations and festivities put up by residents.

'Chaos on Colman' helps raise donations for The Butterfly Collective, which helps survivors of domestic abuse financially and emotionally.

Jaclyn Gregory, an organizer, says that there are five main houses that go all in on their halloween decorations, with an additional four that joined along this year.

According to Jaclyn, the evening scares run from October 1 through October 31, from dusk until dawn. “Beware of the clowns that walk the sidewalk,” Jaclyn shared.

“Over the last couple years, we averaged several hundred people a night visiting our block,” she said. “With the help of our local community, we were able to raise approximately $7,000 in cash donations and raffle basket sales for the nonprofit organization 'Crowns Against Cancer.'”

Jaclyn says that they have reached out to numerous companies and have received an abundance of support from both local businesses as well as Etsy Vendors.

Things like merchandise, gift certificates, vouchers for raffle baskets, and more were donated to this event.

On October 22, they will hold a special event where several companies will make a monetary donation to The Butterfly Collective. Snacks and refreshments will be available this day as well.

Nightly, you can swing by and purchase raffle baskets where 100% of the proceeds go directly to The Butterfly Collective.

The following is the set prices, cash only, for raffle baskets:

- $5.00 for one basket

- $10.00 for three baskets

- $20.00 for seven baskets

- $50.00 for twenty baskets

Winners will be picked on November 1.

“We will also be accepting non-perishable food donations for the church across the street from us, The Servants of Jesus of the Divine Mercy, the entire month of October,” says Jaclyn. “It would be awesome if everyone brought a non-perishable item in exchange for parking on our event day. [Oct. 22]”

The event on October 22 will surround free activities for kids and a whole night of fun for all who attend.
