Suspect, on parole at the time, charged in disturbing Chesterfield Township homicide

CHESTERFIELD TWP — Monday afternoon, the Macomb County Prosecutors office announced charges against 55-year-old Arthur “Levan” Williamson, who is the suspect in the homicide incident that occurred this past Friday.


Williamson stood mute and his attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. He'll be back in court on Oct. 5. 


Williamson is facing seven felony charges including Murder in the First Degree. He has been denied bond. His charges are as follows:


1. First Degree Murder - Premeditated 

2. Felony Murder

3. Unlawful Imprisonment 

4. Unlawful Imprisonment 

5. Unlawful Imprisonment 

6. Assault with intent to commit murder

7. Assault with intent to commit murder


Williamson has an extensive criminal history including past charges of breaking and entering, resisting police, drugs, assault with intent to murder, kidnapping, and felony weapons.


The mother is currently hospitalized in stable condition. The 10-year-old boy is hospitalized in critical, but stable condition, and the 5-year-old girl has been released from the hospital.


The Chesterfield Township Police Department says sometime in the middle of the night, the suspect arrived at the home. Around 6:00am, Jim Matthews (deceased) is believed to have came home, and around noon the police department was dispatched.
