Multiple police agencies working to take violent suspect into custody after retail fraud; high speed chase

 


UPDATE: Suspect in custody. 


RICHMOND — Michigan State Police, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, and Richmond Police are asking the public to avoid the area of 32 Mile Road and Lowe Plank.


This afternoon, a retail fraud suspect fled from Utica Police. At the start of the pursuit, the suspect struck a patrol vehicle.


The chase went NB on the Van Dyke Expressway before being terminated.


The Sheriffs Office picked up the pursuit on 32 Mile Road where the suspect vehicle crashed at Lowe Plank Road.


The driver of the vehicle fled into the woods. The passenger was detained on scene and is receiving medical treatment.


Canine and drones are active in the area to help locate the suspect.


The suspect is described as having a violent and assaultive history with police.


This is a developing incident.
