One killed after truck bursts into flames, crashes during race at air show in Battle Creek

 


BATTLE CREEK, MI — Around 1:15pm on Saturday, Battle Creek emergency services responded to the Field of Flight air show for a jet truck that engulfed in flames during a race.


The showdown jet truck was racing two airplanes at the time. The jet truck is able to reach speeds of over 350MPH. 


The truck driver, 40-year-old Chris Darnell, was pronounced dead on scene after the truck burst into flames and rolled over several times during the race. 


Battle Creek Police says that the police department, fire department, and Federal Aviation Administration is still investigating the incident.
