One injured in shooting at a Warren gas station Tuesday night

 


WARREN — Warren Police responded to the Sunoco Gas Station on Van Dyke Avenue just north of 9 Mile Road around 11:30pm Tuesday night on reports of a shooting.


Police arrived on scene and located a victim as well as the suspect inside of the gas station.


The victim was transported to Ascension St. John in critical condition where he underwent surgery and is currently in the intensive care unit.


The suspect was taken into custody without further incident on scene.


Surveillance shows the two getting into a verbal argument that quickly escalated into pushing and shoving.


The suspect was pushed out of the gas station, however, he went back inside of the gas station and shot the victim multiple times. 


The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the upper abdomen, shoulder, and forearm.


After the shooting, the suspect taunted and kicked the wounded victim before lighting a cigarette and failing to provide aid or call for help.


A 40-caliber weapon and extension drum was recovered from the scene.


The victim was identified as a 67-year-old man from Center Line.


The suspect is a 24-year-old Warren man.


The investigation remains ongoing, but pending charges on the suspect include assault with intent to murder and felony firearm.
