HARPER WOODS — Harper Woods Police is receiving assistance from Michigan State Police and several other agencies in a hostage situation in the area of Sanilac Street and Kenosha Street.
Police responded to a domestic violence report between a husband and girfriend when the husband grabbed a gun and a knife and stabbed his mother.
The suspect fired shots at police before barricading himself.
A female hostage escaped the residence with multiple stab wounds. She has been transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The residence where this is taking place is on fire and burning. A child was reported to be inside with the suspect.
Multiple area SWAT teams are on scene and the public is asked to avoid the area.
