Over $20 million in road construction and resurfacing projects approved by the county; starts this summer

 


The Macomb County Board has approved a new slate of road construction and resurfacing projects that will cost over $20 million total.


Broken down, here is the approximate information on each project that is to be worked on this summer.


Hayes Road from Hall Road (M-59) to 18 Mile Road will be resurfaced at a cost of $4.2 million. Macomb County and local communities will cover $967,000 of the cost, and the federal government will cover the rest.


Harper Avenue from 9 Mile Road to 11 Mile Road will receive concrete repair work at a cost of $2.6 million. Macomb County and the city of Saint Clair Shores will split the cost.


Dequindre Road from I-696 to 500 feet south of 12 Mile Road will receive concrete repair work at a cost of $895,000. Macomb County and the city of Warren will split the cost.


Powell Road from 32 Mile Road to 33 Mile Road will be resurfaced at a cost of $1.73 million. Macomb County and the local communities will cover $313,500 of the cost, and the federal government will cover the rest.


West Road from Mound Road to Van Dyke Avenue will be rehabilitated at a cost of $1.275 million. Macomb County will cover about $510,000 or 40% of the cost, with Washington Township covering the balance in a new contract with Cadillac Asphalt, LLC. 


$3.17 million will be sent to Florence Cement Company for annual concrete repairs as part of a concrete-conservation project, countywide.


Callens Road Bridge over the Salt River, Heydenreich Road Bridge over the Middle Branch Clinton River, 21 Mile Road Bridge over the Middle Branch Clinton River will receive bridge repairs at a cost of $512,000, with Macomb County covering 20% of the cost and the rest covered by the federal government.


Macomb County has issued a new contract with PK Contracting, LLC at a cost of $178,000 for countywide pavement markings.


Capac Road from Pratt Road to the Macomb County-St. Clair County line will be resurfaced at a cost of $371,000, with Macomb County covering $74,200 of the cost and the rest being covered by the federal government.


Macomb County has issued a new contract with Buddy Construction Company at a cost of $5.4 million to provide subdivision street reconstruction in townships throughout the county.


All of these projects are expected to begin at sometime in the summer. No timeline for any of the above listed projects were given.
